Each one talks somebody out of a claim they would have won.
It's the arrival that counts
Measured from when the doors opened, not when you took off. Left 3 hours late and landed 2 hrs 55 late? Nothing. Left 2 hours late and landed 3 hrs 5 late? Paid in full.
Straight line, not the flight path
Circling or diverting does not bump you up a band. Places near a band line really do pay differently: Gatwick to Alicante is £220, Luton to Alicante is £350. Same beach.
Long haul 3 to 4 hours pays half
Over 3,500 km, landing 3 to 4 hours late pays £260, not £520. Past 4 hours it is the full amount. Any calculator ignoring this overstates what you get.

Things people ask about this
Is it free?
Yes, and there is nothing to sign up for. If you then hand the claim to a claim firm through one of our links we may earn a referral fee, which never changes what you are owed.
How far back can it check?
Claims run 6 years in England and Wales, 5 in Scotland. Our live flight records only reach about 6 months back, so for anything older it asks a few questions instead and still gives you the figure.
Does it work for cancelled flights?
Yes. A cancellation with less than 2 weeks' notice pays the same as a delay, on top of your money back or a seat on another flight, whichever you choose. The full cancellation rules are here.
What if the airline blames the weather?
Genuine severe weather and air traffic control restrictions do let the airline off. But airlines regularly blame weather for delays that were really crew shortages or technical faults, and those do pay. What counts as extraordinary.
