What we collect

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages they use. That means a small cookie and standard usage data such as pages viewed, roughly where in the world visits come from, and the type of device used. We use this only to see what's working and improve the site.

The checker itself

There are two ways to use the checker, and they handle your data differently.

The five-question version (where you flew from, how long the delay was, why it happened) is worked out entirely in your browser. Nothing you answer there is sent to us, stored, or logged anywhere.

The flight number lookup, the default tab, is different: the flight number and date you enter are sent to our server, which passes them to our flight-data provider to look up that flight and work out your eligibility. We keep that lookup for a short time so we don't have to pay our provider again for the same flight, then it ages out. The flight number is also sent to Google Analytics as an event, so we can see how the lookup is performing.

Flight alerts

If you ask us to watch a flight, we store your email and flight details only to watch that flight and email you if it becomes claim-eligible. Emails are sent through Amazon SES, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe. Unconfirmed watch requests are deleted after 48 hours, and all watch data is deleted within 90 days of the watch ending. We never use it for marketing.

Data sharing

We don't sell data to anyone. We don't hold personal data in the first place, beyond what Google Analytics collects on our behalf under its own privacy terms. If you email us directly, we only use your address to reply to you.
