Planned for 17 October 2026 to 21 October 2026
French airline strike, 17 to 21 October: will your flight go, and are you owed?
Five unions representing French-based pilots and cabin crew (UNSA PNC, SNPNC, SNGAF, SNPL and UNAC) have filed a strike notice from Saturday 17 October to Wednesday 21 October 2026, over a pension change due in 2027. The notice covers crews based in France, at French and international airlines.
A strike notice does not mean every crew member walks out, and the unions say they are open to talks, so it could still be called off. No cancellations had been announced when this page was last checked.

Are you owed money? Possibly, yes
When an airline's own pilots or cabin crew strike, courts have usually ruled that the airline must pay, because staffing is part of running an airline. So if your flight is cancelled with less than 14 days' notice, or lands 3 hours or more late, you may be owed compensation for everyone on the booking. This strike is against a government pension plan rather than the airline, which airlines may argue puts it outside their control. That has not been settled, so check your own flight.
The amount is set by distance: £220, £350 or £520 each, or €250, €400 or €600 each on flights from the EU. See cancelled flight compensation.
